DAVIS, W.Va. (AP) — Federal funding will be used to build a new visitor center at the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge in West Virginia.

U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito says in a news release the Department of the Interior will provide $7 million for the construction.

Capito is a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and says securing the visitor center funding has "been a top priority of mine for a very long time."

The statement says an analysis found the current facility near Davis is in an "undesirable condition."
