WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) announced a total of $710,000 in funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to support airports in Raleigh and Ohio counties. The funding awarded will support taxiway and runway improvement projects at these airports.

“Investing in our state’s infrastructure, especially airports, is critically important in moving our state forward,” said Senator Capito. “With more funding headed to West Virginia airports – like those in Raleigh and Ohio counties – we can continue to support projects that will lead to efficient and safer travel and will boost our local economies.”

“Investing in our airports is key to building a strong economy for the future of West Virginia,” Senator Manchin said. “With these improvements to the Raleigh County Memorial and Wheeling Ohio County Airports, we can continue to ensure the safety of our residents and visitors while also enabling our state’s economy to grow.”
