WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) issued this statement after the Senate failed to advance a short-term continuing resolution that would fund the government through December 9th and included up to $500 million in disaster relief funding through the Community Development Block Grant program for West Virginia and other states impacted by flooding:

“By voting against today’s bill, a majority of Senate Democrats are letting politics jeopardize crucial disaster relief for West Virginia and other states. I would implore my colleagues to rethink today’s vote and will keep fighting until we reach a solution that addresses the critical unmet needs of West Virginians who are struggling to rebuild.”
