WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $4,636,911 through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Funding will support development projects at airports in Barbour, Kanawha, Marion, and Wayne counties.

“Access to a variety of transportation options—including air travel—is critical to economic development and the day-to-day lives of West Virginians,” Senator Capito said. “This funding will go toward projects that will increase efficiency and enhance important infrastructure at airports in our communities. Investments in air and other transportation infrastructure for West Virginians will remain a priority for me as I work with my colleagues on the Appropriations, Commerce, and Environment and Public Works committees.”

"As a pilot myself, I understand how important it is that our airports are equipped with state of the art infrastructure. Our regional airports serve an important role in our communities and our economy in the Mountain State. This is a welcomed investment for Charleston, Huntington, Philippi and Fairmont. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee I will continue fighting for the resources West Virginia's airports need," Senator Manchin said.

  • $3,481,593 to Yeager Airport.
  • $875,572 to Huntington Tri-State Airport.
  • $110,759 to Philippi-Barbour County Regional Airport.
