CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of Senate Republican leadership, joined FOX News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom” with Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino to discuss the Supreme Court’s decision in State of West Virginia v. B.P.J., upholding West Virginia law protecting girls’ sports.

HIGHLIGHTS:

ON THE DECISION IN THE CASE: “Well, I think this is common sense. It's fair, it's safe. It reinforces Title IX. It reinforces the West Virginia law, and I congratulate our Attorney General for bringing this case. I think that it will only lead to a finality, really, of a lot of questions across the country. And this is great for women's sports…this keeps them safe. It keeps them in fair competition.”

ON PRESIDENT TRUMP’S VOCAL SUPPORT FOR THIS ISSUE: “You know, President Trump has a granddaughter that plays sports, we know, we see her playing golf, he understands women's sports and the fairness of it.”

ON HER EFFORTS IN SUPPORT OF WOMEN’S SPORTS: “It's just common sense. To me, it's a no-brainer almost. I mean, I've been writing about this in articles for five and six years. I don't know what took so long to get to this.”
