WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today announced that several local governments in West Virginia will receive grants totaling $418,473 from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). The State Side of the LWCF provides matching grants to states and local governments for the acquisition and development of public outdoor recreation areas and facilities.
“As a strong supporter of the Land and Water Conservation Fund, I am glad more than $400,000 in funding will benefit West Virginia’s community parks. These grants will keep our outdoor spaces updated so West Virginians can get outside and enjoy the parks across our beautiful state,” said Senator Capito.
“As a lifelong, avid sportsman, I’m thrilled that more than $400,000 in funding will go towards community parks throughout West Virginia,” Senator Manchin said. “In our state, hunting, fishing and outdoor activities are family traditions that help foster a deep and lasting appreciation for all the outdoors have to offer. This funding will help us protect these traditions and preserve our outdoor heritage for generations to come.”
