CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee and a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to the Town of Worthington, W.Va. to upgrade its water distribution infrastructure.

This award, which was secured through a Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) request made solely by Senator Capito, will be used to replace water mains, valves and fire hydrants, and pressure reducing stations, as well as installing leak detection meters.

“I am excited to see these funds that I secured go directly to Worthington to help improve its water system,” Ranking Member Capito said. “These upgrades will create better access to clean drinking water for communities in Worthington, as well as those in surrounding areas across Marion and Harrison counties. I was proud to use my positions on both the EPW and Appropriations Committees to secure this award through the CDS process.”

  • $1,000,000 EPA CDS award to the Town of Worthington, W.Va. to replace 12,600 linear feet (LF) of 6-inch water mains, 20,000 LF of 2-inch water mains, valves and fire hydrants, pressure reducing stations, and installing leak detection meters in Worthington.
