WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today announced $1,238,815 in funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for controlling surface water pollution, preventing surface water contamination, and implementing an effective underground storage tank state regulatory program.
“Responsible stewardship of our state’s water resources benefits the health and well-being of West Virginians and their families,” Senator Capito said. “The team at West Virginia DEP works tirelessly to implement clean water programs, and this funding will assist them in their efforts. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I will continue to be a strong advocate for programs that help ensure our communities remain wonderful places to call home.”
“Clean water is essential to a community’s health, economy, and happiness,” Senator Manchin said. “This funding will ensure West Virginia has the proper infrastructure to keep its water away from the pollutants that can too easily contaminate it. I will continue to fight for funding that improves West Virginian communities.”
