WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) released the following statement in response to the Senate’s passage of a bipartisan bill to approve construction of the Keystone XL pipeline:
“My first act in the Senate was co-sponsoring this bipartisan bill to authorize Keystone XL’s construction. I was proud to see it come to fruition today. Construction of the Keystone XL pipeline will bring thousands of jobs and a big boost to America’s economy. If President Obama is serious about being a defender of the middle-class, I urge him to carry out the will of the American people and support this commonsense, job-creating project.”
Capito, a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, is a co-sponsor of the Keystone XL Pipeline Act, which passed the U.S. Senate today in a bipartisan 62-to-36 vote after three weeks of debate.
