Area fire department receives funds
U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, announced $122,429 in funding for the Maysville Volunteer Fire Company in Maysville.
Funding comes through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant program (AFG) and will support the purchase of new safety equipment. FEMA is an agency housed within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which receives its appropriations from the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee.
“Every day, our first responders selflessly risk their lives to ensure the safety of so many West Virginians,” Senator Capito said. “As chairman of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, I was glad to play a role in securing these important funds that will go a long way in providing our first responders with the resources they need to safely and effectively do their job.”
Maysville Volunteer Fire Company in Grant County was awarded $122,429 which will be used to purchase a new self-contained breathing apparatus’ (SCBA).
