U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito applauded Baylous' nomination, saying she had recommended Baylous to Trump earlier this year.

“Lt. Baylous is an excellent choice to serve as U.S. Marshal in West Virginia's Southern District,” Capito said in a Tuesday news release. “He has a long record of serving and protecting the people of West Virginia and a strong commitment to maintaining rule of law and public safety in our state.
