The Putnam County Development Authority has received $500,000 in Congressionally Directed Spending, according to a news release from the office of U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), who serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee.
The award comes from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to support economic development projects across West Virginia.
The Putnam County Development Authority will use the funding to provide ready-to-use industrial space in the county, according to the news release.
The award is one of nine that were secured through Congressionally Directed Spending requests made by Capito in Fiscal Year 2026 to help support business incubation, economic revitalization efforts and education programs in the Mountain State.
“These awards are a significant investment in the economic development of West Virginia,” Capito said in the release. “I am proud to have helped secure funding for these projects, which will support the growth of our small businesses and improve the quality of life for West Virginians. I will continue to work to deliver results that benefit our communities and strengthen our state’s future.”
