All eyes remain on the Middle East as Operation Epic Fury against Iran is now in its second week.
We spoke to West Virginia Republican Senator Shelley Moore Capito about the war, and she says she believes we’re achieving our objectives.
She describes those objectives as: Dismantling Iran’s Navy, their nuclear capabilities and their ability to launch missles.
With the fighting disrupting oil supply chains and gas prices rising, many Americans are worrying about a prolonged conflict and the possibility of American troops being put on the ground to fight.
Capito says she doesn’t think that will happen, but also that the Trump Administration doesn’t want to take the possibility off the table.
“I’ve said publicly and all along that I do not want to have our American boots on the ground in Iran. I think this President has basically done something that is remarkable in its boldness, but also I think was going to be very necessary at some point, and this was the point he chose, and I think he chose wisely.”
