U.S Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) was on the Senate floor Thursday, where she questioned FBI Director Kash Patel about the Trump administration’s fiscal year 2026 budget request.
Capito addressed the work that is currently being done at the Criminal Justice Center in Clarksburg. Patel traveled to the center in April and said he was impressed by the work being done there, particularly when it comes to gun background checks and national background checks.
With the current budget, Patel says he would like to see an expansion of the facility moving forward, as they are nearly maxed out in workers.
“Just what was your general impression and how can we get the resources there that they might need through this budget?” Capito asked Patel.
“It is available for expansion,” Patel replied. “We are almost maxed out when it comes to how many people we can currently put there. We are putting some more folks there throughout this reorientation program. But, you know, you can never have enough computer data being ingested.”
Capito finished her discussion with Patel by asking him to continue to do everything he can to prevent drug smuggling in the Mountain State.
