U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito said she is proud to have co-sponsored a resolution honoring law enforcement officers during National Police Week.

Capito said the Senate last summer also passed what she described as historic support for law enforcement and hospitals.

She said the Working Families Tax Credit provided funding for federal law enforcement training centers, allowing more agents to be trained and hired while also increasing overtime pay.

Capito also highlighted her support for local law enforcement through initiatives involving body cameras, protective gear and new cruisers.

“I am proud to have co-sponsored the resolution honoring our support for law enforcement officers across our nation,” Capito said. “As we all know, these are not glamorous jobs, but our brave law enforcement officers, they wake up every single day and choose to protect us and serve our communities.”

Capito said the Senate continues to work toward funding the Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection and Homeland Security programs through the reconciliation process.

“Markups are continuing this week, and we’re going to have what’s called a vote-a-rama, which means we’ll be up all night voting on amendments next week,” she said.

Capito said the Senate expects to vote on the funding package by next week.
