Two West Virginia health centers are getting help with their fight against opioid overdoses.
Senators Shelley Moore Capito and Joe Manchin announced Friday that two West Virginia health centers will receive a total of $200,000 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for the Rural Opioid Overdose Reversal Grant Program.
Community Connections Inc in Princeton and Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant each will receive $100,000 to help prevent drug overdoses. The money will allow the facilities to purchase emergency devices that have the ability to reverse overdoses. They’ll also use the funding on support training and education for their employees to properly use the equipment.
According to Capito West Virginia leads the nation in drug-related overdose deaths.
