U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) in November announced that she nominated 30 distinguished high school seniors from 12 counties throughout West Virginia to the nation’s military academies.

Nominees were selected by a board chosen by Capito who reviewed each application, interviewed candidates and made recommendations, according to a news release.

“As a U.S. Senator, I have the privilege of nominating bright and motivated West Virginians for admission to our nation’s premier service academies. This important responsibility is one I look forward to every year because I am so proud of the young people we have here in West Virginia,” Capito said in the release. “These young men and women have proven themselves as the best and brightest, and I look forward to seeing them excel in the future.”

Capito’s nominees for the service academies are listed below. Individuals nominated to multiple academies have subsequent academies listed after their county.
