We’re officially in Day 9 of the government shutdown, and a stalemate continues between Republicans and Democrats.

The Republican bill that passed through the House of Representatives remains stuck 6 votes short, with only 3 Democrats supporting it.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer continues to hold out on the issue of health care tax credits set to expire, but comments he made about the Democrat position getting stronger each day of the shutdown is drawing ire from Republicans.

West Virginia Senator Shelley Moore Capito believes this to be a political exercise to enhance the Democrat’s standing, that is also harming Americans.

“I think we have a lot of Federal employees in our state, and we have more than a few people that are reliant on Federal services, we see some airports having challenges with air traffic control, our national parks and other things. And so the simple solution here is let’s vote this, let’s negotiate, and hopefully do more appropriations bills before the middle or end of November.”

Capito believes people reliant on government services, Federal workers, and members of the military will feel the pinch next week if paychecks are delayed.
