U.S. Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., have announced more than $250,000 in federal funding for the Marshall County Airport Authority.

The $269,876 in funding from the Federal Aviation Administration will be used to improve airport drainage, install perimeter fencing and pay for other construction projects.

“Keeping our airports updated is important for local businesses and for the convenience of travelers,” Capito said. “As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I made sure this funding was prioritized so that West Virginia’s airports continue to operate safely and spur economic growth.”

“Investing in our airports is an important step to creating good jobs and building a solid foundation for our states economic future,” Manchin said. “As a pilot myself, I’m glad to see this funding will go towards improving airport infrastructure.”
