WEST UNION, W.Va. - MPLX's MarkWest Sherwood Complex held a ribbon cutting for its 11th plant located near the town of West Union.

The addition makes the facility the largest natural gas processing plant in the United States.

Speakers included the company's C.E.O., as well as Gov. Jim Justice, Sen. Shelley Moore Capito and Dist. 1 Rep. David McKinley, all spoke on how the plant helps to continue diversifying the state's economy.

"I think that we're still at the beginning of what we can see," Capito said. "But I think we need to be mindful that we want to see the job growth and the diversity of innovation and investment right here in our state. That's the most important thing."

The first plant at the MPLX Sherwood complex began operation in October 2012.

Officials say they hope the success of this plant will show other companies that West Virginia is a business-friendly state.
