WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., recently announced academy nominations for outstanding high school seniors from 20 West Virginia counties.

In addition to hosting several Academy Days throughout the state, Capito appointed a board to review each application, interview students and recommend the nominees.

Local nominations include:

Natelie Grayce Chappell, of Hancock County and Brette Elizabeth Geary, of Brooke County, both to the United States Naval Academy.

"One of my most important responsibilities is nominating young men and women for admission to our country's service academies," said Capito. "I am thrilled to support these outstanding students for admission to our nation's most prestigious academic institutions. All of the nominees have worked hard to reach this point in their lives, and I am confident that, if selected, these students will represent West Virginia and our nation with honor and integrity."
