U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito on Friday visited both the American Legion Mountaineer Boys State and Rhododendron Girls State.

Capito first traveled to Jackson’s Mill in Weston to visit Mountaineer Boys State participants. She then traveled to the campus of Davis and Elkins College in Elkins, where Rhododendron Girls State is being held.

“Boys State and Girls State are events I look forward to participating in every year,” Capito said. “I am always so encouraged by the enthusiasm, leadership, citizenship, and patriotism exemplified by these young women and men.

“I’m grateful to the American Legion’s continued commitment to instilling the values we hold dear in West Virginia’s young people and helping them learn the lessons and skills that will equip them to be the leaders of tomorrow.”
