The government shutdown has entered its third week, and Sen. Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia expressed her concerns during a weekly conference call with reporters on Thursday.
Capito highlighted the challenges faced by government employees who are not receiving pay and the potential repercussions for non-profit organizations.
"I know non-profits, I know many of them that are on short dollars and they rely on funding dollars for grants," she said.
Capito emphasized the importance of grant renewals for these organizations and noted ongoing efforts in Washington and her district to support them.
"I'm assuming that everyone is pretty tight right now with the money -- and I think the best solution for them and all of us is to reopen the government."
