Senator Capito supports Tucker County infrastructure project
PARSONS, W.Va. - As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Shelley Moore Capito has been working closely with the U.S. Department of Transportation to secure funding for Corridor H.
Through the US Department of Transportation’s Better Utilizing Investment to Leverage Development (BUILD) Grants, $20 million will be allocated for the construction of a four-lane expressway in Tucker County. Senator Capito says she has been advocating for the competition of Corridor H for nearly 20 years, and the $20 million BUILD grant is another step toward that goal.
“People really need to have access to the population centers for business development, for real estate development, for our tourism industry as you look up into our ski areas and our fish and wildlife areas. This just gives great access to many more people with an ease of traveling,” said Senator Capito.
The expressway is part of the Appalachian Development Highway System.
The West Virginia Department of Transportation will also be receiving an additional $20 million for a bypass project in Berkeley Springs.
