LANSING – A U.S. senator visited a popular attraction in our area today.

Senator Shelley Moore Capito stopped by the Bridge Walk attraction this morning. The senator made the stop as a part of her small business tour. She brought along FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai to take in the sights on the bridge. Capito not only visited and met with the staff, she also put on a harness and walked the attraction. This was a very special trip for Capito, her father Governor Arch Moore, was integral in getting the New River Gorge Bridge constructed. Capito says walking the bridge is a proud yet exciting moment for her.

"We're doing the Bridge Walk at the New River Gorge Bridge that actually my dad built when he was governor so it's a source of pride for me, but what's wonderful is 30,000 visitors from every state and 60 countries get to see West Virginia like this," said Capito. "We've got some folks that have never really been to West Virginia so they're going to get to see the New River. It's going to be really fun, thrilling, and it might even be a little scary," said Capito.

This was Capito's first time doing the Bridge Walk.
