Jane Lew, W.Va (WDTV) – Earlier today U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito spoke with who she calls the future leaders of the state of West Virginia. Senator Capito talked to the rising seniors of Boys State about the power of voting and participating within society.

"They are going to be voting in this next election," Senator Capito said. "You hear a lot about apathy and people that aren't interested or have frustrations. They can make those changes."

Senator Capito says voting it the most powerful thing you can do.

One Boys State leader believes Capito's speech will get these young men to think about big life decisions. He says thoughts including voting, participating in military service and attending college are important for these young men.

"Being 17 years old, at their senior year of high school, they are going to have a big decision to make," Boys State leader Julian Pecora said.

Pecora says the hearing Senator Capito speak about voting was beneficial because these boys are coming up on their 18th birthdays and will vote in the next election.

Senator Capito will also speak at the Girls State later this afternoon.
