West Virginia lawmakers attend USMCA signing
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia lawmakers were among the attendees of a signing ceremony for the U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade agreement.
U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., Rep. Carol Miller, R-W.Va., and state Agriculture Commission Kent Leonhardt watched as President Donald Trump signed the agreement at the Whtie House.
“The USMCA supports robust economic growth in North America, and it ensures that West Virginia manufacturers and transporters are treated fairly. President Trump kept his promise that he would improve the outdated NAFTA and put American workers first, and USMCA does just that,” Capito said.
“I was proud to stand alongside President Trump today as he signed this critical agreement that works for West Virginia—especially our auto, chemical, and aluminum industries.”
The House of Representatives and the Senate overwhelmingly passed the trade agreement.
