W.Va. Coalitions Awarded Grants to Reduce Youth Drug Abuse

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – Three community coalitions in West Virginia have been awarded grants to reduce youth substance abuse.

U.S. Senators Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito announced the funding from the Drug-Free Communities Support Program on Wednesday.

The program will provide annual $125,000 grants for the next five years to Advocates for Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, the Morgan County Partnership and the Strong Through Our Plan, or STOP, Coalition.

Advocates for Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition serves 54,158 residents in Brooke and Hancock counties. Another 17,500 residents in Morgan County are served by the Morgan County Partnership. The STOP Coalition serves 27,000 residents in Mingo County.
