WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today announced a total of $250,000 to West Virginia University from the Administration for Community Living to improve access to rehabilitation and other services for individuals with Traumatic Brains Injuries and their families with an emphasis on early diagnosis and intervention, and access to medial home and system of care.
“Partnership grants from the Department of Health and Human Services are vital to the strength of West Virginia University’s Traumatic Brain Injury Program and the services it provides to injured individuals, and their families and caregivers,” said Senator Capito. “Unfortunately, West Virginia is a state that is greatly impacted by these injuries, and it is my hope that this funding will contribute in the discovery of new methods that will help prevent future occurrences.”
“Time and time again, West Virginia University demonstrates why they are recognized as one of the leading institutions in the country,” Senator Manchin said. “This grant will help provide WVU’s Traumatic Brain Injury Program with the necessary resources to continue carrying out the kind of advanced treatment that leads to lifesaving medical discoveries.
