WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today announced a total of $4,617,932 will be awarded to the Kanawha County Board of Education and the AFL-CIO Appalachian Council. The funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Resources (HHS) Administration for Children and Families (ACF) will allow Head Start programs in the state to continue to provide critical nutrition, health, education and social services to local children and families.
“Programs like Head Start are instrumental in creating a strong foundation for children throughout West Virginia,” Senator Capito said. “Strengthening our next generation of West Virginians is an investment worth making, and I am glad to see these programs receive support to continue providing critical services that put our children on the path to a successful future.”
