CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies, announced $266,240 in funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR). The funding comes through the HHS Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program (SHIP), which supports hospitals in meeting value-based payment and care goals for their respective organizations, through purchases of hardware, software, and training.

“To ensure quality health care in small, hard-to-reach communities, it’s important that we utilize all available resources. I’m glad to see this funding headed to West Virginia to assist our state’s health department in connecting patients and improving the care they receive. As the top Republican on the Labor-HHS Appropriations Subcommittee, I will continue to advocate for resources that communities in every corner of our state need,” Ranking Member Capito said.
