Capito Announces Over $5.5 Million to Support WVU Energy Research Project
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $5,561,366 from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for a research project at West Virginia University (WVU). Specifically, the project aims to improve the overall understanding of methane and other emissions from storage tanks at upstream oil and natural gas sites.
“West Virginia University continues to be a leader in a variety of research fields across the higher education community,” Senator Capito said. “Funding like this helps create opportunities for our students and professors to take on projects that impact our communities by making a difference in the lives of our residents. This funding will help enhance research efforts at WVU, ensuring that our state can continue leading the way in energy production efficiently and effectively, while also maintaining high safety standards.”
