WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today issued the following statement after U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Scott Gottlieb announced the establishment of an Opioid Policy Steering Committee:
“I’m happy to see Commissioner Gottleib is making the opioid epidemic a priority at FDA. It’s going to take a comprehensive, all-hands-on-deck approach to make real progress in this fight. Establishing the Opioid Policy Steering Committee is a good first step in making sure FDA is a key player in efforts to reduce widespread addiction, and I look forward to continuing to work with the commissioner and others to combat this crisis and narrow its scope.”
