FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) celebrated the addition of two West Virginia high schools, Fairmont Senior and East Fairmont High Schools, to the GameChanger Prevention Education Program. Senator Capito has long been a supporter of GameChanger, which was founded in 2018 to empower young West Virginians to lead healthy, drug free lifestyles as they prepare to be the leaders of tomorrow.

“GameChanger, a program designed by and for West Virginians, is not only a success story, but is a model for the rest of the country. I was proud to join students, teachers, and parents today to celebrate the addition of Fairmont Senior and East Fairmont High Schools to the program,” Senator Capito said.“The work the GameChanger program is doing to find creative solutions to the drug crisis is incredible. With organizations like GameChanger leading the way, we can envision a future without addiction.”

“It is with great pride that out students, counselors, coaches, principals and families of Marion County Schools continue to see the student mentorship, positive messaging and awareness of addiction and prevention through this collaboration with GameChanger, especially as we launch into this expansion of the programming, the soon-to-be launched GameChanger University and student-driven change in Marion County,” Donna Heston, Marion County Superintendent of Schools, said.

“This is just another shining example of what can happen when our educators, our government and our communities come together for the good of our youth and teens. Senator Capito’s continued support and the support today from the Marion County Commission enables GameChanger to provide the very best Evidence-Based and Evidenced Informed Prevention Education Programs not just in Marion County but throughout the State of West Virginia,” Joe Boczek, GameChanger Executive Director, said.
