PARKERSBURG, W.Va. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) welcomed Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to Parkersburg today to highlight the work of the Bureau of Fiscal Service and to discuss the need for comprehensive tax reform.

Senator Capito and Secretary Mnuchin toured the Fiscal Service facility, and met with professionals who perform the Treasury Department’s work on financial integrity and operational efficiency there.

Following the tour, Senator Capito convened a roundtable discussion with the secretary and local leaders to discuss how comprehensive tax reform will benefit West Virginians and businesses across the state.

“This fall, Senate Republicans will work to pass comprehensive tax reform that spurs economic growth and benefits American families and business. Today’s roundtable demonstrated that tax reform is a necessary step to growth and expansion for West Virginia businesses. To create more jobs and provide more economic security, we should listen to the ideas and impacts shared by the businesses we heard from today,” said Senator Capito.

“I am proud of the more than 2,000 people who work at the Fiscal Service right here in Parkersburg and am glad Secretary Mnuchin was able to meet these West Virginians,” Senator Capito continued.

As Chair of the Senate Committee on Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government, Senator Capito oversees the budget for the Treasury Department. At a hearing she convened in July 2017, the senator invited Secretary Mnuchin to visit West Virginia to see the contributions made by those at the Fiscal Service. This visit is a result of that invitation.
