WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $2,225,000 for the Washington Pike Public Service District through the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant program. This rural development investment will be used to upgrade and replace infrastructure that serves approximately 1,383 customers. The funding will help provide an emergency water supply, construct an office and maintenance garage, and update the telemetry with new, more accurate technology.
“Access to clean water is so often taken for granted,” Senator Capito said. “Water infrastructure is critically important to ensure the safety and health of West Virginia communities. I’m proud to see these funds come to the Washington Pike Public Service District to ensure Brooke County residents have clean, affordable water services.”
“As our state gets older, it’s important to invest in our water infrastructure so that West Virginia drinking water can be as clean as possible and new technologies can support efficient delivery. I am proud that the USDA has partnered with Brooke County to upgrade their infrastructure along Washington Pike, which will provide the improved infrastructure to 1,371 residents and 12 businesses,” Senator Manchin said. “As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to work with USDA and other agencies to bring investments to West Virginia.”
