CHARLESTON, W.Va. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $304,521 from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to Cabin Creek Health Systems to purchase laptops, network software and equipment, security software, and a voice service platform to bolster their internet and voice services and create a more efficient, secure and stable connected care program for patients and providers.

“As we have seen over the past year, telehealth is an essential aspect in the future of health care, especially in rural communities like many here in West Virginia,” Senator Capito said. “This funding will go a long way in expanding access to specialized medical services like telehealth, which help our residents overcome so many barriers set by both travel restrictions and the COVID-19 pandemic. I look forward to the benefits this second round of funding from the FCC will create in communities across West Virginia.”

“The COVID-19 pandemic has shone a light on the importance of broadband access, especially for our healthcare providers and patients who quickly adapted to telehealth appointments and services,” Senator Manchin said. “This funding from the FCC, which I successfully fought to include in the year-end COVID-19 spending package, will help Cabin Creek Health Systems continue to provide quality telehealth services to West Virginians during the pandemic. I am pleased with this investment and will continue to support telehealth expansion across West Virginia to ensure every West Virginian has access to quality care, no matter where they live.”
