WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Ranking Member of the Senate Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), also a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $719,431 for four fire departments in West Virginia through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security‘s (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This funding was made available through FEMA’s Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) program and Fire Prevention & Safety (FP&S) grant program.
“Our firefighters play incredibly important roles in our communities and put themselves in harm’s way to protect West Virginians each and every day,” Senator Capito said. “That’s one of the many reasons they deserve the resources necessary to do their jobs safely and efficiently. I am always inspired by the bravery and courage of our firefighters and first responders, and I will continue to advocate on their behalf as Ranking Member of the Senate Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee.”
