Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $98,500 from the Economic Development Administration (EDA) for the Mingo County Redevelopment Authority to support the completion of the Air Transportation Park in Mingo County.
“The EDA continues to be a key partner in West Virginia’s economic growth,” Senator Capito said. “The people of West Virginia are incredibly diligent, hardworking, and want to make their communities better, making our state a great fit for EDA investments. This funding will support future developments at the Air Transportation Park in Mingo County that will promote opportunity for West Virginians. Moving forward, we must continue to work together and develop solutions that give our citizens the tools they need to be successful. Spurring economic growth and creating opportunity for West Virginians has always been a top priority of mine, and I look forward to continuing to work with the EDA and community leaders to create a better West Virginia.”

As a pilot myself, I’ve flown into the Mingo County Airport and have seen the potential for the area with the completion of the airport. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to fight for funding that encourages economic development in West Virginia,” said Senator Manchin.
