WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), both members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced grants from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) to help identify economic development opportunities in West Virginia.

“EDA remains a critical federal partner in supporting West Virginia’s economic growth,” Ranking Member Capito said. “These two investments will support the development and implementation of strategies to create more diverse and strong regional economies. As Ranking Member of the EPW Committee, which oversees EDA, I’m proud to see these awards support West Virginia and its economic potential.”

“Supporting local businesses and investing in our regional economies are essential to helping West Virginia grow and thrive, especially as our state continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. The EDA continues to be a strong partner for West Virginia, and I am thankful for these investments in Nicholas and Berkeley counties, which will spur economic development across the state. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding to boost our regional economies across the Mountain State,” Senator Manchin said.

Individual awards listed below:

  • Region IV Planning and Development Council (Nicholas County) $70,000
  • City of Martinsburg (Berkeley County) $40,000
