Capito, Manchin Announce Funding for Drug Treatment, First Responders

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $747,000 for West Virginia through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Office of Rural Development. Funding will support the expansion of substance abuse treatment facilities in Fayette County and assist the Ceredo Volunteer Fire Department in purchasing ambulance equipment.

“One of my top priorities is ensuring that West Virginia communities remain wonderful places to call home,” Senator Capito said. “In recent years, that has meant fighting back against the opioid epidemic through increased access to treatment and additional resources for first responders. Having seen firsthand the tremendous work being done at Recovery Point of Huntington, I am thrilled this funding will allow them to expand and further provide treatment for West Virginians suffering from substance abuse. It will also provide first responders in Ceredo with important equipment they need to provide emergency medical services in their community. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I will continue working with our state’s communities to ensure they receive the resources they deserve.”

“I am happy to see this grant will provide critical health care to the Mountain State with updated equipment, new vehicles and new treatment facilities to serve rural communities. I am especially excited to see the grant funding go toward the WV Recovery Point of Huntington, which will provide rehabilitation services to Fayette, Summers, Monroe, Raleigh, Boone, Kanawha, Clay, Nicholas and Greenbrier counties, and will open a new residential substance abuse rehabilitation home in Mt. Hope. These resources bring us another step closer to ensuring every West Virginian can get the treatment they need,” Senator Manchin said.
