WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), members of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced two grants totaling $6,080,000 for the Eastern Panhandle Transit Authority (EPTA) to assist in the financing of buses and their new busing headquarters. Funding is provided by the Department of Transportation (DOT).

“With the growth EPTA is seeing, this funding is critical to ensuring they can serve their community’s transportation needs,” Senator Capito said. “Whether it’s getting to class or heading in to work, many use these buses every day. I’m proud to see this funding come to the Eastern Panhandle.”

“I am glad to see that efforts to improve and develop our public transportation infrastructure across West Virginia are being supported by the DOT through this funding. This program addresses the public transportation challenges we face in West Virginia, and will create more economic development for our state. As a member of the Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee, I will continue to fight for funding that will improve access to public transportation in our state,” said Senator Manchin.

“We are thrilled to receive the award for Phase II of our EPTA Transit Center Project. With the continued growth of our agency along with increased ridership this project will enhance accessibility and mobility for our community. We are grateful for the support that we have received for the expansion of EPTA,” said Elaine Bartoldson, Director of the Eastern Panhandle Authority.
