WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) today applauded West Virginia University for offering special entrepreneurship courses for Veterans. The online summer course is designed specifically for Veterans interested in entrepreneurship and takes into account the unique challenges they face when reentering civilian life and completing higher education.

“Our veterans have sacrificed so much to defend our country, and just like the rest of us, these men and women deserve an opportunity to live their version of the American dream. This program will help our veterans transition into civilian life and successful careers. I am grateful WVU is offering this course, and I hope all interested veterans will apply,” said Senator Capito.

“One of our nation’s great challenges today is making sure that our Veterans can transition to civilian life and providing unique education opportunities is an important piece,” Senator Manchin said. “These online courses are tailored to the unique challenges our Veterans face while working towards a higher education. I applaud WVU’s leadership and I urge all interested Veterans to apply for this specially designed course.”

The West Virginia University course, Veteran’s Entrepreneurship Essentials, will be offered this summer. It allows Veterans to earn credit toward an MBA or an undergraduate degree, and develop and present their business plan at the final residency. The online course also provides two on-campus residencies. Veterans must be discharged or currently-serving personnel and have a high school diploma or an equivalent.
