WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Elaine Chao, the nominee for transportation secretary, met in Senator Capito’s office today to discuss the Trump Administration’s transportation priorities. Senator Capito issued the following statement about the meeting:

“From rural airports and pipeline safety to improving our highways and rural broadband, the Department of Transportation oversees many issues that directly impact West Virginians. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my priorities with Elaine, including how to better connect our state, and look forward to working with her to expand critical infrastructure projects.”

On December 12, Senator Capito sent a letter to President-elect Donald Trump encouraging the new administration to include broadband deployment as a core component of any infrastructure proposals. Read the letter here.
