WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today announced that she nominated 30 distinguished high school seniors from 12 counties throughout West Virginia to the nation’s military academies. Nominees were selected by a board chosen by Senator Capito who reviewed each application, interviewed candidates, and made recommendations.

“As a U.S. Senator, I have the honor of nominating bright and motivated West Virginians for admission to our nation’s premier service academies. This important responsibility is one I look forward to every year because I am so proud of the young people we have here in West Virginia. This year, I was honored to nominate 30 outstanding high school seniors from across the state to the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S Merchant Marine Academy. These young men and women have proven themselves as the best and brightest, and I look forward to seeing them excel in the future,” Senator Capito said.
