WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) issued this statement after Senate passage of the bipartisan Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act. The bill passed on a 98-2 vote:

“Iran, Russia and North Korea pose serious threats to the national security of the United States and our allies. This bipartisan legislation sends a clear message that Congress intends to hold these bad actors accountable and is united in its resolve against the security threats posed by these nations. I urge President Trump to swiftly sign this bill into law.”

The Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act contains three sets of sanctions: the Countering Iran's Destablizing Activities Act of 2017; the Countering Russian Influence in Europe and Eurasia Act of 2017 and the Korean Interdiction and Modernization of Sanctions Act.
