WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today released the following statement regarding her vote to override the president’s veto of the bipartisan Keystone XL Pipeline Approval Act:

“It’s unfortunate that President Obama used his veto pen to strike down this safe, pro-jobs project. The Keystone XL Pipeline is just the start of the infrastructure needed to grow energy jobs and fuel our economy. If the president is serious about standing up for America’s middle-class families and jobs, I urge him to reconsider this critical, bipartisan project and get behind a more responsible energy policy.”

The bill to override President Obama’s veto of the Keystone XL Pipeline Approval Act failed to gain the two-thirds vote needed for passage.
