West Virginia Senator Shelley Moore Capito is sharing her thoughts on the FEMA declaration.

She says this represents very significant help for the families that have been suffering since the flood.

She tells us she was frustrated by how long it took to get the approval, but remained very persistent, speaking to the White House every day to make sure the approval came through.
She was relieved when she got the call on Tuesday with the good news.

She says West Virginia is prone to disasters like floods, and while we always help each other, we needed FEMA’s help.

“This is what we’re here for, to really press our case at the highest levels, whether it’s the President himself, and that’s what we did. We worked with the Governor, which is what we have to do and need to do to make sure we’re working in the best interests of everybody. So I would reiterate, if there are problems, if you don’t think you’re getting a fair shake, you need to come to your Federal representatives and help us on a case by case basis work this out and try to help you.”
