WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Bob Menendez (D-N.J.)’s bipartisan letter, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced today that they will be paying out a combined $25 billion to providers that overwhelmingly serve Medicaid and low-income patients.

“This is great news. Safety net hospitals and clinicians in West Virginia have really been struggling during COVID-19,” Senator Capito said. “Those treating our state’s most vulnerable citizens have been on the frontlines. I’m glad HHS listened to my request on this issue and will be delivering funds to help keep these hospitals and providers afloat during this tough time.”
